LIST OF AWARD-WINNERS
GRAND PRIX
CORRIDOR #8
Presented by: YLE (Finland) –Directed by: Boris Despodov
Version: Finnish with English subtitles - 2008 - 74'
Treated as a road movie, this film poses an ironical interrogation on the project of a road supposed to build a geographical and cultural link between countries in the Balkans. It also reveals the aspiration of these peoples for meeting and getting better acquainted in order to live in peace at last.

SILVER MEDAL
BURMA VJ – Reporting from a closed country
Presented by: WDR (Germany) – Directed by: Anders Østergaard
Version: German with English subtitles - 2008 - 84'
Shot at the risk of human lives and with basic technical means, this film makes us live from inside events having opposed the Burmese monks then the students to the ruling military dictatorship. The author used these strong images to put the speech of democracy on a dissident satellite channel and to supply the international media.
This film was made in exceptional conditions, which widen the documentary genre.

BRONZE MEDAL
ANOTHER PLANET
Presented by: MTV (Hungary) – Directed by: Ferenc Moldoványi
Version: Hungarian with French subtitles – 2007 – 96’
The camera gets in various parts of the world the testimonies of marginalized children undergoing indifference and exploitation by society brutally changing them into adult children.
With his distanced approach, the author brings a singularly pertinent thought on the deep distress of these children of extreme poverty.

MARTINE FILIPPI AWARD for discovery
LIFE ON JEUNG ISLAND
Presented by: KBS (South Korea) – Directed by: Hyoung-suk Kim
Version: Korean with English subtitles – 2008 – 60’
This documentary approaches without pessimism, with force and tenderness, the exhausting daily life of South-Korean islanders crucially confronted with their survival. By mastery of the images and the narration, the author brings to light the capacity of these people to face their destinies serenely.
